Bowling Woes: A Setback in Week 3

Adams PBA Journey My personal journey in life, health, and renewing my passion I'm back with another update on my bowling journey. This week, I'm not as pleased to report that I experienced a bit of a setback. My average for the week was only 145, well below my current average of 182. Additionally, my strike percentage was disappointingly low at 30%, and my spare percentage was 40%. To compound matters, I missed the opportunity to convert five single-pin spares. I'm not sure what exactly went wrong this week. I felt like I was practicing well, and I was confident in my approach and release. But somehow, I just couldn't seem to put it all together. I was making a lot of bad shots, and I was having trouble converting spares. I'm a little bit disappointed with my performance this week, but I'm not giving up. I know that I have the potential to be a good bowler, and I'm not going to let this setback get me down. I'm going to keep practicing hard, and I'

I couldn't find the pocket to save my life, even managing to throw the ball into the gutter in the second frame. Additionally, I left frames open three times, which, while it might not sound like much, stung even more when they followed spares and strikes. My first game concluded with a score of 143, dropping my average by 9 points and falling short by 36 pins compared to last week's performance.      In the second game, I finally began to find my groove in hitting the pocket. Nonetheless, my spare game was still off the mark. I missed a simple 10-pin spare I should have easily converted. Overall, though, it was an improvement from the previous game, and I wrapped up the second game with a score of 170.      In the third game, everything seemed to fall into place. I kicked off with an impressive streak of five consecutive strikes, only to let my excitement get

Week 1

Adams PBA Journey My personal journey in life, health, and renewing my passion     It has been 15 years since I've bowled in a league.  I saw that there was going to be a meeting at a local bowling lane, so I decided to attend, hoping that there would be a team looking for one more member.  Lucky for me, there was a team seeking a member.  We decided to call ourselves 4 of a kind.        My first week was so surreal being back on the lanes.  This was over 20 years of my life, where I looked forward to going so many times.  Sitting there, I wondered just how much rust I would have and what my fatigue would be like.  I questioned the strength of my wrist and arm.   I had been doing pushups at work to build my stamina and my strength.  So there I was, looking down the lanes again, feeling the joy I had missed for so long, waiting to once again roll the ball down the lanes and try to help my team reach victory.      I believe this first week we went 1-3 (you bowl 3 games and the 4th

The beginning

Adams PBA Journey My personal journey in life, health, and renewing my passion     Ever since I can remember, I bowled.  I remember the first fall I moved to the Tri-Cities, Washington area in 1991, my parents signed me up for a bowling league at Columbia Lanes in Kennewick.  I already enjoyed bowling when I had gone with my uncle.  Thinking about it now, I might have been in a league in Seattle... but that was 32 years ago, so my memory can't quite reach that far.         Bowling every Saturday is how I grew up.  We would have league bowling, city tournaments, state tournaments, and even a lot of birthday parties at the alleys.  As a young adult I still bowled, however, due to a lack of funds and work I couldn't be as dedicated as I wanted to be.  In 2007 I joined a league with my wife Katie, my best friend Jason (who I grew up teaming with), and my brother Aaron.  However, in the Spring of '08, I was in a car accident that injured my back and knee. Unfortunately, I stoppe
