The beginning

Adams PBA Journey

My personal journey in life, health, and renewing my passion

Ever since I can remember, I bowled.  I remember the first fall I moved to the Tri-Cities, Washington area in 1991, my parents signed me up for a bowling league at Columbia Lanes in Kennewick.  I already enjoyed bowling when I had gone with my uncle.  Thinking about it now, I might have been in a league in Seattle... but that was 32 years ago, so my memory can't quite reach that far.

Bowling every Saturday is how I grew up.  We would have league bowling, city tournaments, state tournaments, and even a lot of birthday parties at the alleys.  As a young adult I still bowled, however, due to a lack of funds and work I couldn't be as dedicated as I wanted to be.  In 2007 I joined a league with my wife Katie, my best friend Jason (who I grew up teaming with), and my brother Aaron.  However, in the Spring of '08, I was in a car accident that injured my back and knee. Unfortunately, I stopped bowling after that.

15 years later, at the age of 40, I kept imagining myself living my childhood dream and competing in tournaments.  I brought up this desire to my wife, Kate, and she encouraged me to pursue it and offered to do whatever she could to help me reach my dreams.  I'm not sure how I will do, as it's been 15 years since I've last bowled in a league.  As a kid I dreamed of bowling in the PBA and competing in tournaments.  I also dreamed of traveling in an RV and going from town to town to bowl.  While I don't plan on traveling in an RV, I do plan on hopefully making it to at least regional PBA events.

I will be joining a local league in the hopes of regaining my form and what I used to be able to do.  I will first need to get my average up to 200 before I can sign up to become a member of the PBA.  In order to become a full member of the PBA I must complete one of the following:

-Cash in a PBA regional tournament as a guest
-Have a 200+ average in the most recent league season; min. 36 games

This blog is also going to be a place where I talk about health-related items too.  I plan to start blogging again about my health and weight struggles like I did on the former blog I had called "Cut the Crap."  If you have any other suggestions or topics you'd like to hear about, please reach out to me.  I will be trying to put out 2-3 blogs a week.  I hope you will enjoy it.
